Message: Nan was such a sharp, lively, insightful person and she will be missed by so many who loved her in Durham. I always enjoyed hearing her perspective on the news and politics as she was a great reader and always well-informed. Nan's wonderful children and grandchildren are her gift to the world.

Message: Nan was a pillar of our community, a longtime friend and an inspiring colleague. Ever since she became our first "hire" as a reporter at the West Hartford News, Nancy and I cherish the many good times together with her and her loving family during and after our newspaper careers. She left her mark on a Better west Hartford and the town is forever in her debt. We will miss her upbeat presence as we Celebrate1west Hartford as her legacy.

Message: TO NAN GLASS'S FAMILY, ALL WHO KNEW NAN HAVE LOST A LEGEND. SHE WAS SO ACTIVE IN WEST HARTFORD, HARTFORD AND IN THE STATE. HER TALENTS WERE MANY AND HER LEADERSHIP SHARED THEM WIDELY. NAN'S FAMILY WAS AT THE TOP OF HER LIST, AND SHE RAISED ALAN, AMY, DAVID AND MITCHELL TO BE A GUIDANCE COUNSELOR'S DELIGHT. I KNOW BECAUSE I WAS THEIR COUNSELOR AT KING PHILIP. NAN AND MY HUSBAND, BOB DUNN, (NOW DECEASED) WORKED TOGETHER ON MANY COMMUNITY PROJECTS, AND WE BOTH CONSIDERED HER A FRIEND. ONE OF MY LAST MEMORIES OF NAN WAS BEING TOGETHER IN THE MATURE DRIVER'S COURSE AT AAA. TO LIVE IN HEARTS ONE LEAVES BEHIND IS NOT TO DIE. NAN WILL LIVE ON IN THE HEARTS OF HER FAMILY AND HER MANY FRIENDS, ALWAYS. WITH SINCERE SYMPATHY, GLADYS B. DUNN

Message: Goodbye old friend. I cherish the memories of our becoming friends when I was in your English class at Morse School of Business. I credit you with my finally learning the proper usage of 'I and me'. Your kindness and generosity to my children were very much heartwarming. The postage stamps you gifted us , from all over the world, gave my children and me many hours of pleasure and exploration (please note I used 'me' correctly there). You will be missed. Thank you for your kindness.Pam

Message: I had the pleasure of meeting Nan during my early years at Leadership Greater Hartford, a group she supported through her service on the very first Steering Committee and later in life as a generous donor. I also got to know her as a fellow resident of the Woodland House. At all times and in all ways, Nan presented herself in accordance with how we define leadership; that is, a someone dedicated to giving the best she had to the work of the group and helping others to do the same." I am grateful to her for the example she set for all of us.
