Message: Sam, Chubby Clark and Irv Yaffa met, frequently, at Isaac's Bagel Cafe in Bloomfield. Three times in the past two summers I was invited to join their table. To hear them speak of all that they accomplished in their long careers, the playful banter among themselves, the mostly corny, but some great, jokes and for Sam, particularly, how he was still paying it forward for seniors by playing at nursing and assisted living facilities and libraries was a special treat for me. Rest in peace, Sam. I won't forget your gentle, kind persona. Condolences to your family.

Message: Sam was a good friend, kind, and ever mindful of the needs of others. He exemplified the motto of Rotary International, SERVICE ABOVE SELF! Sam always had a smile on his face and saw the best in everyone. He brought joy to all whom he met. We were good friends and spent much time together over the years. He was never too busy to help others. He was truly "one in a million" and became a legend is his own time. Sam will be missed by all whose lives he touched. His life was truly "For a Blessing!" Susan and I enjoyed dancing so much because he played our kind of music.

Message: We were so proud and honored to call Sam our uncle. He was such a special man with many talents. However he will be more remembered for his caring heart and kind and giving character. He would always put others feelings first and know just the right thing to say when talking to others. He had a gift of gab and would always reach out to those who needed a friend or just an ear to listen. Our heart goes out to Aunt Shirley and the rest of the Pasco family who lost a great man but were lucky enough to know him in his long and wonderful life. We will miss him dearly, may he rest in peace.

Message: Dear Shirley and Family, We are terribly sadzdened by Sam's passing, and offer our condolences to you all at this sad time. We are sorry that his sax is now forever silenced. Sam was a mensch who never forgot his roots, and we'll always remember the joy he brought to everyone, whether he was playing with the Al Jarvis Orch when we were attending dances while at Weaver High, and at the many parties we attended where he was "the show". Well miss him. May his memory and his legacy of quality music be a blessing, and may he rest in well-earned peace.

Message: The Al Jarvis Orchestra played at our wedding! They were a delight to deal with! I still treasure the headline of the "newspaper" they printed and presented to us on that very important day " Mark vows Santiago lifelong dental care" - how we laughed. And how we danced. They were wonderful. Even to this day we are so happy with our memories of that day. Sam brightened many a life event. I know his memory will be for a blessing. Our deepest sympathies to his family. Robin and Rafi

Message: We will miss Sam in our Brookdale Farmington community. He brought his musical trio to entertain our residents many, many times over the years. He was a regular and a favorite to be sure. Sam always had a gentle smile, a kind word, and some sage advice about the importance of education! The holidays won't be the same without Sam and his stories, music, and friendship.

For many years he and his music ensemble brought joy to the children and adults of Prosser Library where I worked as a Children's Librarian until my retirement. We have lost a very generous man who shared his talents and love of music so willingly with others.
