Message: I extend my condolences, and those of my family to the family of Mr. Barnett D. Laschever. I did not know this wonderful and interesting man, but I do know of his son, Jonathan. One of the measures of a person's lasting impression on the world is the quality of their children, and what their children do after them. With Jonathan, I am sure that Mr. Laschever, of blessed memory, was well pleased, and indeed proud of him and ALL of his children and grand-children. The world will be a little bit darker and a little bit sadder in the passing of your husband/father/grand-father/best friend, but know that he (and his wife) did a wonderful job in raising their children, and what a blessing his legacy, in them, has been and will be for this world. May the blessings of our Creator be with you and yours in this time of mourning. Dave Moore

Message: Laughing, crying, then laughing again. Barney told a story that sucked the listener in. A few of them still run through me. My sorrow for his beautiful, big family -- you had a wonderful, delightful, funny light in Barney.

Message: I'll remember Barney as a true gentleman, and one with an unwavering curiosity about people and their ways of life. Gene Fodor (from Litchfield) and I were lucky to have Barney with us working on the Fodor Shell Guides to the USA.
