Message: I met and remember Steve from our days playing on the University of Hartford varsity soccer team, a very good team in those days in the 60s. Steve was a great player, tough as nails; he also was a motivator to the rest of the team. He practice hard and as often as any of the other players. He was a wonderful and caring team mate. He will be missed by us all.

Message: I am deeply saddened by the passing of Steven, your husband, father, brother, cousin... and my namesake. He was truly one of "the good guys" and will be missed. We shared more than just names, our Alma Mater, the University of Hartford, often sent me Steven's invitation to the annual soccer dinners. He played and was a supporter of that program. Once, on a super bowl Sunday, one of his doubles group called me by mistake, I was in the phone book as Steven, he was S M Elovich. Jokingly I said, call me back if he's , not going to play, they did. He wanted to watch the game. Though we were not close, it is hard to picture him gone.

Message: I am so sorry to learn of Steve's passing. I got to know him as a result of my many years of shopping at The English Shop. He knew his business, and he knew his customers. I could always count on Steve to help me select clothing that was right for me. More than that, as I got to know Steve I realized he was one of the most kind, caring and compassionate people I've ever met. It's sad to lose Steve but I hope, as his family you take comfort in knowing that he touched so many lives in a positive way. Mark Steiner

Message: The summer after I graduated high school I worked at the English Shop. I recall Stephen always dressed so handsomely. He and his father worked on the main floor in the men's shop while I worked with his mother, Frances in the women's shop on the bottom floor. Years later when Stephen was in real estate, he helped my parents find their retirement home. It was a very special home where my entire family created so many wonderful memories. While working at the English Shop I fell in love with their Liberty of London silk scarves. I ended up buying one in every color. I have had these scarves since 1967, they are still in excellent condition and I wear them often. Each time I wrap one around my neck I will remember my cousin Stephen and the very special summer I spent working with him and his family.

Message: My memories of Steve are from his and my youth. Mostly at Plant JHS and the soccer team. I didn't shop at the English Shop simply because my family couldn't afford it. Steve never made me feel bad about it and treated me with the same consideration as any of his other friends. I enjoyed his company and sense of humor a great deal, and regret not knowing him in later years. My profound condolences to you all.

Message: Dear Elovich's, So very sorry to hear about Steve. We had loads of fun with Robert, Steve, Tom Burger, and Bob Bernstein at FPC. Steve had the best and zanyest sense of humor. He was always so helpful to me when I first came to FPC. Mrs. Elovich(aunt Fran) actually paved the way for me to attend Franklin Pierce and I will always be grateful for that. I also had the fondest memories of Steve waiting on me at the English Shop. I loved clothes and Steve always made buying them a true adventure. He knew everthing about clothing and was the coolest salesman on the planet He was just Steve, a guy you had to know to love. I will miss him very much. My thoughts are prayers are with your entire family. my sincerest condolences, Rich Connell
