Message: Dear Paula, it is with very heavy heart that I write this note. You do not know me, I was the next door kid that grew up with Lewie and Richie. We played together in our backyards, and were really close friends as we were growing up on Palm Street in the north end of Hartford. I remember Lewie’s father Eugene. He was a wonderful man who really taught me a lot about life. He had a great sense of humor and was always there with words of wisdom. I am so sorry to hear of Lewis’s passing. Please accept my sincere condolences and know that I am thinking fondly of the many times we spent together getting into mischief.

Message: Lewis Steinberg was the living recipe for a smile---no matter how bad a day you were having. That is the effect he had on me in California or Connecticut when I'd encounter him periodically over the last 30 years, and that is exactly how I will remember him.
