Message: Joel was one of the first people I met as a new member of the Bloomfield Fish and Game Club. It wasn't hard for him to discover that I had a lot to learn to become a real fly fisherman. He took me in and shared his secrets as he had with so many others. We all enjoyed his flyfishing tales from around the world. I especially remember how he asked his favorite Vermont Inn to cook the trout he had caught in a special way. The next year when he returned he found that the Inn had adopted his recipe and called it their own. My last fishing trip with Joel was to Newfound Lake in New Hampshire two years ago. One regret is that I was not able to reciprocate for all he had done for me by taking him in my kayak to see the nesting loon on an island in a small pond. He was feeling too feeble to get into a tiny kayak. Joel was not able to make the last two trips to Newfound, and it wasn't the same without him. Joel, we'll miss you.

Message: I have so many found memories of cousin Joel, from not only my time growing up next to the store, but even later in life as he visited some of my favorite deli restaurants in West Hartford. He was always making me laugh, and I will wiss me dearly! My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family. David Kleinman
