Message: To Lois and the entire Siegal family, I was deeply affected by the news about Howie. I grew up on Brightview Drive around the corner from his home on Farmstead Lane in West Hartford, and he was my best friend. We were in the nursery school set when we bonded. I was a year older than Howie, and we got along tremendously. We liked to play cowboy and soldier games (it wasn't frowned upon then), and we watched TV (it was exciting to watch the Three Stooges on big black and white sets) and explored our suburban neighborhood together. Once we got in big trouble for breaking some windows at a construction site on Farmstead. If he got punished for that one, as I did, sorry, Howie - it was my fault for leading you into the crime. I have since reformed. After high school, I moved away from Connecticut. Howie and I spoke infrequently through the years and the distance, but I have always remembered with fondness my time with Howie running (literally) around West Hartford, playing ball, sharing our toys and going to Bishop's Corner to the Woolworth's lunch counter to have hot dogs. Those were the days, and I will never forget the best friend I shared them with. To the entire Siegal clan, I extend my heartfelt condolences.

Message: My dearest Lois, Mark, Ronna, Barry, Judy,Coleman and Judy, I had just returned from a trip when I heard that Howard had passed away the week prior, and even though I knew how difficult his struggles were in the most recent past, I couldn't help but sit down and cry for his loss. There was something so warm and wonderful about him and the friendship he showed to everyone around him. His countless acts of generosity will most certainly leave a legacy for generations to come. I knew him as a lovely, sweet and very kind person. When Lois came into his life, I felt that she was his gift for a life spent thinking about others. Lois, I know how you felt about each other, and how you cared for him in the final days. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in your time of mourning. Please accept my sincerest sympathies, Bobsie
