Message: I was so saddened to hear of Mrs. Schindelman's passing. She frequently taught our math class and I thought she was outstanding. All these many years later I can remember learning a lot from Mrs. Schindelman and I think that's a real tribute to her gift. My thoughts are with the family at this time.

Message: It is with great sadness that I learned of Sylvia's passing. Upon retiring from teaching at Hall High School in 2000, Sylvia contacted me in my capacity as chair of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Central Connecticut State University. This was the beginning of her second career as a college instructor. For the past eleven years she has taught one or two courses every semester. This spring she kept going as long as she could before asking for another instructor to take over her class. We remember her as a dedicated colleague who took an active interest in the life of the university and our chapter of the American Association of University Professors. She counted many of us in the mathematics community at CCSU as her friends. Our heartfelt wishes go out to her family in this time of sorrow.

Professor Emeritus
Department Chair, 2000-2009
