Message: To the children of Neil Macy, I was so saddened to read about your dad's passing in today's paper. Neil and your mom became friends with my parents (Shirley and Frank Rosenfield when they met while vacationing at Grand Lake Lodge in Lebanon, CT in the early 1950's. So I knew "Mr. Macy" long before he became my 8th grade teacher at Northeast Junior High School in 1956. We had a special bond while I was in Junior High and he always took a special interest in my education and future success. I remember that he took me with him to the Hartford Board of Education in an attempt to have me enroll at Weaver High School in the ninth grade instead of having to wait until my sophomore year. He thought I would get a better education doing that. Although his attempt was to no avail, I never forgot his caring ways and his going that extra step for me. We were always happy to see each other in the years after I finished college, got married and raised my own children. We would often bump into each other while shopping at the Crown Market where we chatted and caught up. He was so devoted to your mom and I was so sorry to hear of her recent passing also. He inspired me as a student and as an adult as I am sure he has inspired you all your lives. Please know that my thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
