Message: My heart is filled with sorrow on the passing of Mrs. Lindenthal. She and the Rabbi was cherished friends of my parents Mary & Joe Stengel. They spent many a Sunday evening with my parents at their home as well as many years breaking the fast on Yom Kippur with your family. My Mom had many a favorite times with your Mom especially doing their plays together in Sisterhood. Your Mom was my Hebrew School teacher as well as my son Eric. When he was a Bar Mitzvah we belonged to the East Hartford Shul so we had the service in the morning there, but because your parents meant so much to me and my family the party was held at night at Teferes so they could be a part of it. The Rabbi also married Marvin and I.My mother could not attend Mrs. Lindenthal's funeral because of poor health but I'm sure she was there in her heart. Rachel you are a great friend to my mother who loves you very much and I must tell you again what a wonderful daughter you were to your parents. Rachel please take care of yourself.

Message: I was so sorry to hear about this. I remember walking home from shul with Rabbi & Mrs. Lindenthal when they would invite me home for lunch when I was a little girl. It was so exciting for me, and I felt so proud. And Mrs. Lindenthal was always so sweet to me when I was there. Those are among my fondest memories of attending Teferes Israel on Blue Hills Ave. I know my beloved parents, Alvin and Dorothy Wendrow, would join me if they could in expressing my sincerest sympathy to the three of you, Jacob, Rachel & Harold. I hope your sweet memories and the support of your family and friends help you through this difficult time.

Message: I have so many fond memories of Mrs. Lindenthal. My image of her is of a strong, devout and determined woman. I do remember Oscar the pointer, from my Hebrew School days, when Teferes Israel was on Blue Hills Ave. in Hartford. She had high expectations of her students and I learned to read Hebrew quickly at a young age. Passover Seders in the Lindenthal home were like no other, fun and festive. I looked forward to her delicious cooking, especially the Israeli salad that could just never be duplicated, no matter how hard I tried! I knew how hard she worked to make the holidays memorable, and I was in awe of her for making it look so easy. I can still recall watching her during the high holiday services, observing her from several rows back, always aware of her "tall" presence despite her short stature. She absorbed every word chanted by the Rabbi, she was devoted to him as she was to Judaism. On Yom Kippur there were no shortcuts for her, no matter how long or difficult the day. Naomi Lindenthal was one of a kind. She will always remain a significant part of my childhood memories as I'm sure she will for so many.
