Message: One of the best things that happened to me in my life was Allan recruiting me to work with him on the first Discover Hartford Bicycling and Walking Tour in 2007. Through this I saw the incredible intelligence, vision, passion, dedication and sense of humor he had. It took organized cycling and community spirit to another level in the Hartford region. More importantly for me, it was the first new friend I'd made in a long time. A friend I'll never forget, whose company I will miss dearly, and whose spirit will stay with me and the thousands of others he touched.

Message: Every time a kid reaches into a pond, looks at a new flower, or smiles at the prospect of a camping trip, I'll think of Allan.

Message: I will always remember "Uncle Al" for his laughter, his compassion, his generosity, and his surprise visits on a Friday night when we lived in Vermont, the many Christmas's squeezed around the table and the tree, the cross country skiing in the woods, and the hiking trips on the Long Trail that he and my dad treasured. Kevin and I are saddened by this tremendous loss, and wish our children could have known him and enjoyed his laughter as much as we have. Thank you, Uncle Al. We love you and will miss you always.

Message: Dear Allan, Your intelligence, energy, quirky sense of humor, love and joy in the world will remain as reminders in our own lives to try and live each day the best we can. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself. Love Joyce Thank you for making S.C. Inner City Outings posible in Hartford. You still had lot of child in you. Canoeing without learning to swim. And sort of getting lost XC skiing in Vermont and picking one of the five black trails at Jay Peak when the novice trail was close by. Love, David
